24th of July 2010
Happy 24th of July!!! Jordan had a 5 day weekend!!! He needed to spend a lot of time studying for his upcoming GMAT, so we didn't go on a vacation, but we tried to do something fun everyday. The first three days we went on a hike every morning. We found one of these baby backpack carriers off KSL and went off for some family fun.
Ensign Peak was our first hike on Wednesday. Not really as much of a hike as we thought it would be, but it's one of those things we need to do while we still live in Utah.
Hey Lily, what's the importance of Ensign peak???

Mueller Park was our Thursday hike. It starts just 3 miles from our house! It's about a 14 mile round trip hike. Obviouslly we didn't go the whole way with Lily but it was beautiful. We love love love it here in Bountiful!
Peak Abo!!!
We found this little guy on our hike. He seemed to be abandoned and lost. We started asking everbody we saw if he belonged to them, with no luck. We remembered a post at the trail head asking for people to look out for their dog, so we naturally thought he was this missing dog. To our good fortune we found his owner on our way down from the hike. Not that I would've minded having a sweet dog around for a day!
Donut Falls . Wait, the sign doesn't say donut falls. Well, donut falls was our original plans. But the problem all began when I was playing navigator. So it's no surprise we got lost. Once we had given up Jordan made a random turn up a residental road saying, "I bet this leads to some sort of trail." I was a doubting Thomas and mocked him the rest of the way. We did have fun taking turns deciding which way to go and hit a couple of dead ends. But, to both of our surprise, we actually found one within 10 minutes of searching! We had never heard of this trail, but it was beautiful!!!!!
Lily started getting used to her chair on the third day and had a blast!
"Come on Mama, hurry up!"
Summer Classics- Jordans' better-than-jumba-juice-smoothies!!! Fat free and pure delicousness!
Everytime I tell Jordan that Lily is too young to have a certain food he just tells me that I've been in nursing school just long enough to make me parnoid. Recently he's taught her how delicous adult food really is! We made waffles after one of our not-so-strenous hikes and she's got the art of begging down to a T!

Last week Jordan announced that he had volunteered us to sell meat at the park!!!! I had no idea what he was talking about. My first thought was those guys who go car to car in parking lots selling Tamales. But then he explained that every 23rd of July the church and city put on the HANDCART DAYS. Turns out that it wasn't really a place for a baby, so Lily and I enjoyed the entertainment at the park while Jordan had a blast sold BBQ beef (he put himself in charge of quality control). It was a fun fair and the food was all dirt cheap but yummy! Yet another reason why we love Bountiful.
Although Jordan rocked the hair net, it's probably a good thing he didn't go into the food business.
The Best part of the weekend was.....My sister came up to visit!!!! That's right, we had her all Saturday. First we all hung out and played and chatted. I had forgotten how darling her kids are and how much fun Tess and Brad are, even just sitting on the sofa chatting.
They brought Lily her birthday present!!!! Lily opened it, and had fun playing with the most adorable shoes Tess had bought her, but she had no idea her birthday is coming up and she'll get to eat cake!
Laney of course was just as sweet as could be with Lily

We put on Signing Time for the girls.
And had popsicles for the adults. Lily got some too, but I think we got more of her slobber than she got of the popsicle.
We all went down to the Hand Cart Days parade and they had little kiddie rides for Laney

And free covered wagon rides for the kiddos.
Laney went fishing for a friendship braclet
It was such a hot day!!! So we cooled off in the rec center pool. The picture quality wasn't great because I brought our old cheap camera to the pool and there was a lot of light coming from behind.
See the position Lily is in? That's her Koala bear hug. She was so scared of the pool for the first 20 minutes. It was only her second time to the pool. She loves bath time so I dont' know why she was so scared, even in the inch deep water she was a koala bear!
How do you know you're married to a hunk? When he's the hottest guy in or out of the pool, even when he's hanging out in the kiddie section!!! Wow. Tess and I married well, didn't we?
The Day's perfect finale- Fireworks!!!
Cali was a combination of tired and scared at first
The boy's favorite part?? FIRE!!!

Eventually Cali warmed up and started cheering at the end of the fireworks

Towards the end Laney was hiding behind the dumpster making funny faces. So SILLY. She reminds me so much of Tess in this picture. Definitely a Tess face to pull.
I snagged a picture of Jordan's awesome tan line. It's a result of long 13 mile runs and golfing. He shows it off shamlessly.
You are a great blogger. Love all the posts and pics. Love your commentary!
