This Man of Mine

I try not to be TOO gushy on facebook, but this is my blog so I feel I am allowed. I love Jordan. Here is a quick example of why.

Scenario: It is Friday night at the ward trunk or treat dinner. Everyone else, except a handful of men, have gone outside for the trunk or treat. It was late, and, there was a BYU football game going on. If you know Jordan, BYU Football is his ranked right below his family in priorities.

Instead of leaving to go watch the game at his friends house like he arranged, he stayed behind to clean up after the pot luck. Did he complain about missing the game? No. Was anyone there to say, "wow, you're awesome for staying to clean up" No. He stayed because it needed to be done.

Not only that, but instead of hurrying to get finished, he took the time to let his busy little bee "help" him. He took the time to set the example of helping and doing what's right instead of hurrying off to watch his game.

Scenario: I was in the shower at night and realized that we didn't have a towel in the bathroom. I asked Jordan to grab one for me and he came back asking me if "the white one was okay?". I, assuming he's talking about the cheap Ikea towel we bought several years ago responded "As long as it's absorbent".

He replied, "Oh, it's absorbent."

5 minutes later when I opened the shower curtain, this is what I found:

Yes, that's toilet paper. There was also a fluffy blue towel waiting for me on the toilet seat. He's a straight arrow, but still never fails to make me laugh. I am a lucky lady.

Lily & Lucy

There are not words to describe how much Lily loves her
Lucy ("Ucy"). Last Saturday Jordan stayed home to study so I could go grocery shopping while Lucy napped - and Lily had a melt down because we were leaving her beloved baby sister.

She has to hold Lucy's hand as they walk down the stairs and help bathe Lucy. She also loves having Lucy beside her as she's playing. We'll see how long that lasts when Lucy can start grabbing Lily's toys. But for now, they adore each other.

Twins! Seriously, they are almost identical.

Lily-Kins

When did Lily become a little girl? She's seemed to lost all of her babish qualities and is now a smiley spunky little chatter box. She is absolutely so much fun to have around - and as far as 2 year olds go- she's pretty mild. She doesn't have many temper tantrums, and the ones that she does have are fairly tame (usually caused by being hungry or tired).

She is my little "helper" - she always has been but now she's even more determined to help. She "helps" me carry Lucy's car seat, or cook, or clean. Her favorite it to push the start button on our dryer.

We have such fun "conversations" - I absolutely adore this little girl of mine! I especially love that she is still loves to snuggle. A recent translation sheet I left for a sweet couple from the ward babysitting was:
Hot Dog = Mickey Mouse
Daisy = Minie Mouse
Balala = Koala

She's currently fixated on several things - which include Mickey Mouse, pumpkins, Lucy and Jesus. She gave Jesus his own verse in "Wheels on the Bus" and she frequently hands me the Ensign and asks me to "read story of Jesus". Here she stole her Daddy's scriptures and was pointing to random words saying, "Jesus".  I dread the day she starts talking more about boys than her scriptures.

"Meow"

The girl has some crazy bed head hair.

Good bye! Come back soon!

Love Birds

It's always nice when Jordan and I both are friends with another husband and wife team, it's esspeically nice when there are 3 of us that all friends. It's even better when our children are in love.

It just so happens that Jordan and 2 of the guys in his study group are buddies and I love each of their wives. This has helped make Jordan's MBA program bearable. Last Saturday we proclaimed a girls night and us wives went out and sat in the corner of Paradise Cafe for as long as possible chatting away while the men watched 3 toddlers and 2 babies.

It was much needed therapy.

James here took that opportunity to bust a flirt with little Lucy.
His attentions did not go unnoticed.

4 Month Goose Girl Lucy

Happy 4 month day to my little Miss Rose (Lily and I call her Rose when Daddy's not home).

Her 4 month stats:
Height: 24 inches (43rd percentile)
Weight: 13 pounds (42nd percentile)
Head Circumference: 50th percentile

Lucy is a happy baby with plenty of fat rolls on her thighs. Which is why I was surprised to see she hadn't gained much weight since her 2 month check up. She's dropped quite a bit in percentiles and while she's still healthy, we don't want her to continue in the steep downward slope. We discovered that I don't make quite enough fat in my milk and we're going to try giving her one bottle of formula a day for a few weeks and then reweigh her.

She is my happy, observant baby. I love the big smile she gives me when I get her out of the crib in the mornings, or just about any other time of the day (excluding hungry and tired periods).

A few of her favorite things:

+ Bath time (watch out, there is a splash zone around the tub and you WILL get wet!)

+ Dancing (especially with Lily)

+Getting kisses

+ Reading books

+Playing with Lily

+Getting out of the house

+ Listening to the Miss America theme song. It's still a guaranteed way to make her laugh.

This little Goose is adored by every member of the family. She has each of us wrapped around that itty bitty finger of hers.

Doctor Elliss

Doctor has been a favorite game at our house. Usually it is centered around the stethoscope and listening to heartbeats.
Here is Lily's play group (Gracie, Chloe Fawn, Lily, Chloe Ann) - it's a pre-preschool. They meet once a week and us mom's take turns hosting and teaching. Here I was the doctor and they were all sick with the influenza :)

Doctor Lillian Elliss. Here she is listening to the voices in my mind through the special location on the crown of my head.

Diagnosis: Mom is plum crazy

Lucy's turn! Lily is very good about sharing and making sure Lucy has a turn, even if she ensures her turns are much longer.

Halloween

My little Pumpkin!

Lily's playgroup Halloween party!

Ward Trunk or Treat Dinner! There was music, millions of children running around and a stage for dancing. Lily was in heaven. You can see her looking enviously at the other children still running around while she has to pose for a picture.

Costume explination: Lucy's a flower, Lily's a bumblebee and I'm the gardener. Jordan is a BYU student.

It was very fitting for Lily to go as a Bumble bee- because she's Buzzz-y little girl :)

Prettiest flower I've ever grown! (Longest living as well)

Trick or Treating in our neighborhood. Lily got stage fright and refused to even say "trick or treat". We only went to a few houses of friends. As you can tell by the grocery cart in the background, we live in a classy neighborhood.

night stalker

Yep. Still haven't gotten over the habit of staring at my beautiful girls while they're sleeping.
