Lexi's first non-milk meal! We started on oatmeal, because that's what our friends had leftover from their babies and gave us :) By the end of the month she pretty much figured out how to swallow the liquid substance and not push it back out with her tongue. Notice the darling bib made by my former VT companion, Emily.

Lucy can fall asleep at random times, in random places.

We love workbooks! 

Lucy has such a cute little girl face! She loves her kitty, Rosie. Of all her cats, this is her favorite. I don't know if it's the pink bow on it or the fact that she earned it from potty training. BTW, potty training still isn't going well with her. *sigh*

Sometimes, when Jordan goes away overnight for one reason or another (I think he was gone doing the ragnar race here), we need to create some extra fun. Watching a barbie movie in "boats" suddenly makes the evening magical.

I'm pretty sure she knows just how cute she is. She has turned from the chillest baby ever to the happiest baby ever. The two most common comments I get about her are, "Is she always this happy?" and "She looks just like Lucy/her sisters!"

Lucy, she is such a unique character. She's so expressive! I finally got her a leotard for gymnastics and she refuses to take it off until she has an accident in it. . 

Lily's love for her baby sister hasn't died down - she still loves to hold her, although Lexi is getting more difficult to hold now that she wants to be on the floor more often rolling around.

Jordan got LASIK on his eyes this month - something he's been wanting to do for years. It's taken some getting used to seeing him without his glasses, but he still handsome Jordan and he is so happy. The surgery wasn't fun (he was extremely light senstive for the first 12 hours, thus the sunglasses).

Relaxing, warm, bubble baths will do this to just about anyone.

These two. They're best friends, and although they fight, they play well together more than they fight. Things can get pretty crazy in our house sometimes.

Sunday afternoon castle building! They've started drawing out a plan before they build, each castle seems to be a bit bigger and better.

Lily is learning to read! This was taken just moments after reading her first book. She's worked really hard to get to this point, and still has more hard work ahead of her to become a fluent reader, but she's eager to start the journey.

Lexi loves her jumperoo. She loves to stand and jump and be active, so this toy is perfect for her. 

Hurrah for little friends who see our hidden desires to dress fancy and cat-like.

We're on a witch-kick after reading "Littlest Witch" and "Bed knobs and Broomsticks." We like to play that I'm the mama witch and they are my little kid witches and we go about turning all pink things green, stealing all things sparkly and giving each other compliments such as, "you're funny looking."

Craft time with Niki. Lucy wanted to give up, but I was proud of her for continuing on with her craft. 

Lexi's first banana! I think this was really in December, when she was 6 months. She loved the banana, up until it gave her the biggest stomach ache that lasted for 20 miserable hours until she threw it up. Good times.

This sums up how we all feel about bananas now a days.

Thanksgiving this year was pretty fun and laid back. We got together with some friends, the Davis's, Mijangos and Soares and we all brought some sides for the dinner. Good food and great friends make a for a fabulous day. Jordan would have liked to have thrown in football watching, but, we can't have it all. 

Tender moments

Lucy tonight: She was in bed in the room by herself about to go to sleep. I went and snuggled her and she said, "Mommy, we going to die at same time?" I reassured her that what ever happened here on earth we would live together in the Celestial Kingdom forever after the resurrection. Then she asked, "You still be my mommy? Will you be my mommy forever?" She is such a sweet, sweet girl.

Earlier today she was looking out the car window at the sky and she asked, "We get to live with Jesus in the Celestial Kingdom?" When I answered her yes, she smiled and said, "I love Jesus. I want to give Jesus a BIG hug!"

She is getting so good at sharing with others and helping little Lexi.


Lily, while we were in Calgary, we were using the TomTom to find my mom's chapel. Unfortunately we had the wrong address, and then under the Points of Interest in the TomTom, the LDS chapel listed in there turned out to be a Church of Christ. We were lost, without phones and had been driving around for 25 minutes. Until Lily piped up from the back, "we should say a prayer.". She offered a prayer for us, and not 2 minutes later we found the address hiden in the TomTom under "Calgary West" in the saved addresses. We were at the church just 10 minutes later.

The first Sunday of January 2015, Lily got up in Fast and Testimony meeting and bore her testimony for the first time in sacrament meeting. She was a little nervous, but she did it anyways because she knew it was the right thing to do. I was so proud of her. And after that Lucy was asking to go bear her tesitmony. She couldn't because it was the end of sacrament meeting but it shows that Lily is a good example for others.

Lately, Lily only wants to hear scripture stories at night before she goes to bed. Last night after I told her the story of Captain Moroni forifying the weak cities in preparation for Lamanite attacks, she asked me if I could tell her scriptures stories at breakfast, lunch and bedtime because she just wants to hear them more often.

Lexi, almost 7 months is such a happy baby! She smiles at everyone all the time. Strangers are frequently coming up to her because she'd been smiling at them. They are always amazed at what a happy, sweet baby she is.

October Part 2

 

Lucy has long since given up naps, but still needs a little extra sleep now and then, so she falls asleep at random times. I have decided that she not only likes cats but she very much has a cat personality. She loves her milk, she decides when she wants attention and to snuggle and with whom she wants to snuggle. More like demands her snuggles. She is extremely smart but refuses to be taught any tricks. And she tends to like cat naps. 

Just a few days after her 4 month birthday she decided to roll over. And no one saw it! I put her on her tummy in her little gym and then walked into the kitchen to talk to Jordan. When I came back to check on her a few minutes later she was on her back. At her 4 month check up her stats were:

Height: 23rd percentile

Weight: 22nd percentile

She has two little teeth on the bottom and loves to chew, chew, chew on everything. Her favorites are her elephant, giraffe and dolly, oh and her hand. She is still the chillest little baby. She's great when I'm running errands and is stuck in her car seat for an hour and a half. This month I decided to see what happened when I put her down for bedtime and naps with her eyes still open, and she surprised me by putting herself to sleep! She has even put herself on a schedule, at least when we are home for her to follow it. 

She saves her biggest smiles for her daddy and her sisters, and I get the most comments about her cute little cheeks and strawberry mark. With her strawberry mark it's usually little kids thinking she has an "owie" on her head. I also get a lot of comments from friends mentioning how much she looks like Lucy.

Autumn time is Indiana at it's best (well, along with the demolition derbys during the summer). We took a Saturday to go look at the fall leaves at Brown County. We rolled the windows down while we were driving and Lily kept exlaiming things such as, "I never want to stop driving!". The variety and intensity of the colors was amazing and we were even a little past the peak of fall awesomeness. 

This is at "the spot" that we always stop at, it happened to not even be the most beautiful vantage point, but it's tradition to stop here and get a family picture. We came out with the original plan of going on a hike (which explains our attire) but it decided to rain as soon as we got out of the car. 

Behind our building is a little grassy area that we occasionally go down to play in. 

Lily, Lucy and I decided that the gusts of wind that sends handfuls of beautiful fall leaves fluttering to the ground are Mother Nature's "glitter". 

There are some definite drawbacks to living in an apartment, but this view from our windows makes me forget them (plus if I'm looking at it then I'm already up the 3 flights of stairs!) 

We had our traditional pumpkin carving FHE, this time with our darling friends, the Mijangos! And to make it even better, this was their first real Halloween and first time carving pumpkins! 

We took a group picture outside but my camera wouldn't cooperate. However, I did get this ghostly picture of Lucy.

And us witches stealing her back. With the origin of my name, I can't be anything BUT a witch each Halloween! This is at the ward's trunk or treat. Luckily it was a decently nice evening and the kids got plenty of candy because a few days later for the actual Halloween night, it was not exactly princess weather. It was the perfect weather to sit down on the sofa with hot chocolate and watch a scary movie. The scary movie I forced Jordan to watch was "The Fault In Our Stars". He was very brave throughout the whole film. I think next year I'll bust out my full arsenal of scariness with "Pride and Prejudice". 

It was Lucy's dream come true to dress up as a "Princess, Ballerina, Kitty Cat".

Lily originally wanted to be Elsa for Halloween but changed her mind at the last minute to this ballerina costume because she thought it looked like Lexi's costume. However, I wouldn't let her wear her nice ballet shoes in the street, and she wouldn't let me put her hair in a ballerina bun, and I made her wear her heavy jacket since it was so miserably cold outside. So in the end, she looked like a beautiful, but not costumed, little girl.
