Calgary Zoo

We all ventured out to the zoo to celebrate Auntie Gwen's birthday!

Lucy found Jordan's jacket far more interesting than any of the animals.

Lily's favorite spot - the duckies - which we can also see at the BYU duck pond for free.......

Lily's 2nd favorite part- this random slide - which we can also find at the public park.... for free.

I make sound like the girls didn't have fun - but in all reality, they, and we, all had a blast. It's been over 2 weeks and still every time I put Lily's shoes on she asks, "Getting ready to go to the zoo?"
Bear sightings daily

Hungry Hungry Hippos

Lily had quite a lot to say to her Uncle Christopher, nothing of which had to do with the large ferocious lion that was just 2 feet away.

Love this picture of Lucy and her Uncle Christopher.
Thank you for letting us celebrate your birthday with you Auntie Gwen!

6 month Lion Hearted Lucy

On January 10th little Lucy turned 6 months old! She has decided that she no longer wants to be the little princess Goose Girl, and has since found a better mentor. A lion. The 3 minutes that her mind was open to learning how to talk, happened to be when we were in front of the lion exibit at the Calgary Zoo 2 weeks ago. As we were walking out of the zoo Lucy started roaring just like a lion and has continued vocalize her inner Lioness ever since. She roars like a lion and farts like a bear. I think her collection of animal print clothing has got her a little confused.

6 Month Stats:

Length: 25 1/4 inches = 30th percentile
Weight: 15 lbs. 4.5 oz. = 35th percentile
Head Circumference: 43 cm. = 65th percentile
Teeth: 3 - two on the bottom and one more just starting to come out on her top left.

She's practicing for future Pouncing. All joking aside, she loves to jump. I'm still dreaming of her Olympic gold medals.

Presenting Head Book Worm and her Trainee

We started Lucy on cereal on January 1st. At first she was a little confused.

But just 16 days later and she's already eating her carrots like a champ!
She's already grabbing the spoon. Please don't tell me we're going to go through the "I do it" phase early with this one.

My girls are growing up far too quickly!

Lucy's loves:

Dancing!! Her favorite is when all 4 of us are dancing together, with Lily in one parent's arms and herself in another and so that she is eye level with her sister and we are all snuggled in closely (this takes careful coordination on my and Jordan's part).

Her Daddy. Her new years resolution was to smile only for her Daddy. And ever since she has done just that. Anytime he walks into her view her entire face lights up.  She still smiles frequently at me and especially at Lily, however she has a special smile that she has only for her Daddy.

Shopping: my wonderful neighbor Brittnay has lent me her B'jorn for a while and Lucy loves to visit stores. Particularly ones where she has a vast population of people with whom she can have staring contests with those large penetrating eyes of her.

She is still a very very happy, sweet girl and just the thought of her darling personality gets my eyes misty, so, we'll just leave it at this, I love her just as a mother should love her baby girl. My feelings for her and her sister are probably very similar to what most mothers feel. However, I am still amazed at how the feelings can, at times, be overwhelming.

Indiana-ins

I've been singing "Gary Indiana" to myself all week because.....
*drum roll* Jordan got an internship offer from, Cummins, a wonderful company based in Columbus Indiana!

And today he called and officially accepted the offer! We had to celebrate with a few of our favorite things, Sparkling Cider (the girls just pretended with their tea cups), Lays Kettle Cooked Sharp Cheddar chips, and Phish Food by Ben and Jerrys.

Finals Week

During finals week Jordan was MIA for the entire week. Needing the family time, the girls and I snuck into the MBA lounge with a lunch picnic. 1 semester of MBA school done, 3 more to go.

Yes, that is ping pong table in the background. There is also a foosball table, 3 refrigerators, microwaves, sofas, a enormous flat screen TV and an X box. Maybe the girls and I will go visit him more often!

Happy 5 month Goosey Lucy!

Lucy is one of the happiest little baby girls I have ever met. What? You don't believe me? You need proof? Well, here you go:

She loves kicking those legs of her. Sometimes she gets her bouncer going fast that I'm afraid she's going to launch herself right out of it.

Apparently the stork uses UPS these days.

SANTA!!!!!
Really? You still don't believe me? Here's some more proof.

Yet more proof? You are some skeptical judges, but here you go.

Even her feet are happy!

Not only are you convinced that she is the happiest baby ever, but you also believe she's the cutest? You just may be the smartest person I know.

I bet you now want to know why she's such a happy little girl. At first I thought it was because Jordan and I are just awesome, but recently I've discovered 2 new theories that are more plausible.

Theory #1: She's laughing at us. This sweet little girl can clear a room better than any adult male I know. The problem is, her toots are the SBD (silent but deadly) type. So, picture me holding her while at the ward Christmas party. I'm talking causally with an acquaintance when BAM, she lets one rip. My friend knows she didn't fart, so she assumes I caused the unearthly stinkage. I try saying things like, "Wow, Lucy, you're stinky" but you know that my friend will always secretly think that I was just trying to pass the blame onto the baby. Lucy knows exactly kind of predicaments she places me in daily when she farts!

Theory #2: Lily is a fairy. Having technical difficulties. Hilarious video to follow of Lily putting an enchantment on Lucy :)

Milestones:
Lucy rolled over! She was punishing Jordan for leaving for an entire weekend by rolling over for the first time not 15 minutes after he left for Florida on November 16. She rolled over again 1 week later at a friends house and hasn't done it since. He still hasn't seen her roll over.

First tooth! Of course it came over Thanksgiving weekend.

The other faces of Lucy

You're right. She doesn't smile ALL the time. Sometimes she just gives us hilarious faces.

Why do all men love baby acrobatics?
Lily chose this prime opportunity to steal daddy's scriptures :)

Look who's sitting up!

Miss Independent

It's official. We have hit the "I do it" phase.

And that means we often get messes such as these.

What could be under that big lump on my sofa?

"Peeky-boo!" Tent is Jordan and Lily's favorite game to play together.

"Knock Knock" Lily associates knocking with Chloe magically appearing on the other side. "See Doedee".

The two Lily bookworms :)

I took a break from doing dishes to find Lily with all her friends sitting quietly on the sofa - no the TV was not on- she was just enjoying their company (she is pointing to Hot Dog's nose ring)
Another time I took a break from doing dishes to find this.

She sure was proud of her mess!
